Velvet dress with velvet collage

38 ½, 38 x ½ in

This piece is called Ebony Family by Jae Jarrell. On the front of the garment, there are multiple African Americans faces and figures. Jarrell’s love for bright bold colors is evident in this garment as she uses shades of red, green, purple, black and brown. On the back of the garment, the letters “E” and “F” are featured in a random order. This garment is a popular one of Jarrell’s because of how she shows African Americans in a positive light. In an interview, she said she “always got good vibes from our [AfriCOBRA] members, no doubt, because my political stance on nurturing the strong loving Black family is real, and personally experienced”.
